Human Capability Lab – Customer Showcase

Overview

Human Capability Lab is a New Zealand-based organisation that underwent a complete company rebrand. With the rebrand came new domains, a new identity, and a critical operational requirement: ensuring that all email history – every message, every folder, every attachment – made the journey from the old domain to the new one
without a single item left behind.

The stakes were high. Email is the backbone of business communication, and losing even a handful of messages during a domain transition can mean lost contracts, missing
receipts, or broken client relationships. Human Capability Lab needed a partner who could handle the technical complexity while they focused on their rebrand.

The Challenge

Rebranding is more than a new logo and website. When a company changes its domain, its email infrastructure has to follow. Human Capability Lab faced several interconnected
challenges:

• All email data needed to migrate from the legacy domain (flux2flex.com) to the new domain (humancapabilitylab.com) with zero data loss
• Folder structures, message flags, and original timestamps had to be preserved exactly as they were
• The new domain needed to be properly configured for email security and deliverability from day one
• The migration had to be completed quickly to minimise disruption to daily operations

What We Delivered

We developed a fully managed, automation-driven email migration designed to meet the needs of the Human Capability Lab.

The tool was designed to:

• Connect securely to both the source and destination mail servers over SSL
• Automatically discover and replicate the complete folder structure
• Migrate every message while preserving flags (read, starred, flagged) and original internal dates
• Handle edge cases such as oversized messages, encoding variations, and multi-line IMAP responses
• Provide real-time progress reporting throughout the migration
• Produce a detailed summary of messages migrated, errors encountered, and total elapsed time. The result was a reliable, repeatable migration process that could be monitored from start to finish.

The Outcome

The migration was completed with zero data loss across all mailboxes. Every message, folder, attachment, and metadata flag arrived at the new domain exactly as it existed on the old one – preserving the full communication history that Human Capability Lab relies on to operate.

With the email infrastructure cleanly transitioned to humancapabilitylab.com, the team was able to move forward with their rebrand without worrying about missing correspondence or broken threads. Clients and contacts experienced no disruption, and the new domain was sending and receiving with full authentication and deliverability from day one.

By automating the process rather than relying on manual exports or drag-and-drop transfers, we eliminated the human error that typically plagues domain migrations – and delivered a repeatable framework that could scale if the organisation grows or adds new mailboxes in the future.
